Flowy berms and slab rock gardens are a feature of the first section of this trail as you roll off the saddle near the northern knoll.
The main section of the ride takes you through native woodland interspersed with a small sugar gum plantation.
A steady, weaving climb with great views of the northern knoll takes you back to the Northern Trail Hub.
In the language of the Dja Dja Warrung, 'Murnong' means 'Yam Daisy'.
That's a perennial herb with an edible root that, roasted or baked, was once a mainstay of indigenous Australian's diets.
Murnong starts from the Northern Trail Hub with a few berms, before opening out into more flow trail with frequent rollers and sweeping corners. A-line options exist to give more advanced riders a chance to engage in some aerial activity.
This is a great trail to practice using your momentum for clean riding lines.
Like Wilkerr, Murnong extends to the northern boundary of the park before looping back to the trail hub.
The climb back to the top is gradual and passes through some attractive stands of eucalypt. Before the summit, you'll encounter some technical sections of granite boulders before arriving back at the Northern Trail Hub.
