Wanyarra is a relatively smooth ride, suitable for all riders, as an easy intro to the stones and mountain of the La Larr Ba Gauwa landscape.
It's a great trail for beginners and a genuine destination in its own right, especially for family riders.
Its gentle slopes and smooth trails serve as the gateway into all of the other Northern Trails.
In the language of the Dja Dja Warrung, Wanyarra means 'water'.
The scenic ride meanders around Picnic Gully Creek, through open woodland, large pines and The Oak Forest. Some of the nearby rocky outcrops form shallow streams when the weather is at its wettest.
Shortly after leaving the trailhead, Wanyarra introduces riders to the use of berms on the Harcourt Mountain Bike Trails. Of course, the ones here are designed for beginners to get a feel for it.
A small rocky climb leads up and around the campground area, onto a more flowing trail. At a junction, you can access Girra (#2) or continue to complete Wanyarra's loop.
You'll encounter small rollers incorporated into the track as it goes around the Oak Forest, with granite armouring that leads though the trees.
After crossing the creek, pedal up a series of gently rising switchbacks to return to the trailhead.
